Privacy notice

This notice explains what happens to the details you send us through the "Share your memories" form on this website.

Who we are. Brighton Spiegeltent. You can contact us about anything in this notice at our email address.

What we collect. Your name and email address. The photos, videos, links and words you choose to send. The credit you'd like us to use. Your answers to our questions about September, May 2027, and what you'd like to see. Whether you'd like news from us. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address to stop spam. We don't keep your address itself, and we delete the hashed version, normally within a few days.

Why we use it. To plan our return, to show in summary how much support there is for it, and to build an archive of Brighton Spiegeltent's history. If you tick the permission box, we may also share what you sent, credited, on our website, social media, and in press and publicity. We won't publish your words or material without that permission. We use your email only to contact you about what you sent, and to send you news if you ticked that box.

Our lawful basis. We rely on our legitimate interests to collect memories, plan events and understand community support. We rely on your consent to publish what you send and to send you marketing emails. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, or by using the unsubscribe link in any email.

Where it's kept. Securely with our providers Supabase (database and file storage, in London) and Vercel (website hosting, running in London). Vercel is a US company, and its data processing terms include Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK transfer addendum. If you ask for news, your name and email also go to Mailchimp, which sends our emails and is based in the USA. Mailchimp is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and its data processing terms include Standard Contractual Clauses as a further safeguard. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Only the Brighton Spiegeltent team can see what you send. We don't sell or share your details with anyone else.

How long we keep it. We keep what you send for as long as it's part of our archive. If you change your mind, email us and we'll stop using your material and delete your details. Anything already printed or posted can't always be taken back, but we'll remove what we can.

Your rights. You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email us at our email address. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
